Fox carrying rabbit

It looks to me that this fox is pausing in front of the trailcam to adjust it,s grip of the rabbit in it,s jaws.The fox may of just caught it as they do tend to run off with it a bit while it,s still wriggling and then once they have a firm hold will carry the rabbit by the middle with the belly facing downwards for balance to somewhere and eat it......

This squirrel is getting territorial over it,s patch,they can get very aggressive at this time of year and are probably being possesive over the acorn drop.Pheasants eat them too.A friend related a story once of a squirrel launching itself at his terrier which was rooting amongst the leaf litter one autumn,it reminded my friend of one of the last scenes of Watership Down cartoon version when an ill fated rabbit flew at the farmers dog,despite the squirrels sharp teeth there can be only one outcome.In fact only the other day someone told me of a squirrel who came up to them chattering and flicking it,s tail ,there has been such a big acorn drop this year that it can,t be hunger just,i suppose,force of habit on the squirrels part......

Feral ferret

Picked up this white feral ferret on the trail camera the other day.Someone has been releasing them over the past few years in the area and i counted over a dozen different ones that i saw in the course of the season,the dogs mark them first by wagging their tails as i keep 3 ferrets myself,often quite tame but always covered in ticks so they must be surviving,at least for a while.Never see the same one twice though.........

Just shows how curious these stripy animals are,first night up for the trailcam in it,s new spot and 1 is already having a look.....

The picture,s a bit smudged from our friend the badger and so a friend thought they looked more like New Zealand Kiwis.Kiwis they are not or else i,d have every birder in Britain trying to find out where the trailcam is and therefore the most tickable bird ever(probably).....

Badger tastes the trailcam

I had a bit of a shock when i checked the trailcam yesterday.I check it every week,the batterys and memory can last at least a month but i look forward to viewing what pictures it,s captured,i find it very exciting and captivating, plus if anything has gone wrong ,like then ,i can sort it.The camo net was torn and the lens was smudged although the angle was still roughly right it certainly wasn,t how i left it.The culprit as i played back the 30 second films was plain to see,it was this badger who shows up from time to time.Still, no harm done as it seems this cam is bulletproof and hopefully it will leave it alone now it,s had a taste.I,ve set it for the prime purpose of capturing a cat so even the up close shots should fit the whole body in so the videos now will be a bit overexposed as it points more up to the sky......

Update on unknown creature/video

This video has been sent to Shaun Stevens of Argyllbigcats(member of BigcatsinBritain of which we are also)and he has done a very good job of cleaning up the video using some amazing software.His opinion is that the animal is most likely a badger as a black and white face could just be made out and the way the head moved.There is a solitary badger that shows up now and then and i,m inclined to agree, many thanks to him for solving that mystery......

Now that the trailcam is set on video i,ll try and post anything of interest.The quality is not as good as stills as it,s not really designed for it but it does show animal movements and personally i prefer it.There is also a better chance of capturing a bigcat on the video setting.....
